LYCOPENE - Lycopene, a phytochemical found in tomatoes, has been found to reduce the risk of prostate and lung cancer. The incidence of digestive cancers, such as those of the mount, esophagus, stomach, colon, intestines, and rectum, may also be lowered with correct dosages of lycopene. A study reported in the December 1995 issue of the Journal of the National Cancer Institute found a 45% lower risk of prostate cancer in men who regularly consumed ten or more servings of tomatoes or tomato-based foods per week than in those who did not.
